Taking the high road....

If you thought Terri Schiavo's family was looking out only for her best interests, you might want to read this article that confirms the family is selling the contact information of their list of supporters to a direct mail firm.Posted by Hello

It's that time of year...

"Thousands of sealers armed with clubs, rifles and spears headed for the ice floes off eastern Canada on Tuesday for the world's largest seal hunt, one expected to bring poor coastal communities millions of dollars but condemned by animal rights activists as barbaric."

You can let Canada's government know you won't buy any Canadian Seafood until they stop killing baby seals by going here and filling out the pledge to protect seals. Posted by Hello

Finger food.

An unlucky diner bit into a segment of a human finger while digging into a bowl of chili at a Wendy's restaurant in San Jose, Santa Clara County health officials confirmed Wednesday.
The diner, who visited the restaurant Tuesday night, spit out the well- cooked digit, notified restaurant workers and became sick to her stomach, health officials said.

I drive by this Wendy's every morning. I won't be stopping. Posted by Hello

Lost in the Fog

How bummed am I? I open the sports section today and am greeted with the headline:

Fast 'Fog' won't do the Derby
Owner, trainer decide not to push 3-year-old

So no big Kentucky Derby Party. No chance of winning $800. You can read the entire sad story here. Posted by Hello

Peregrine Falcon web cam

This is cool.

"A camera is set up at the nest on the Pacific Gas & Electric Company headquarters building in downtown San Francisco. Last year a pair of peregrines created a nest on the 33rd floor ledge of the building, producing two offspring, which successfully fledged. As we prepare for the 2005 nesting season, we appreciate PG&E’s partnership to make this wildlife viewing opportunity possible. The cameras in the Nest Cam view are now live, and courtship displays are being observed daily."

The Santa Cruz Predatory Bird Research Group
(SCPBRG) was formed in 1975 to restore an endangered peregrine falcon population in California. The peregrine falcon was removed from the federal endangered species List in 1999 and we are proud to have played a leading role in that success. It is doubtful that SCPBRG founders Drs. Roush and Norris could ever have imagined the tiny group they formed in response to the near extinction of the peregrine falcon in California would last so long and accomplish so much. Today, we are a problem-solving resource to government, corporation, and university researchers who require our unique expertise with birds of prey management.

Donald Rumsfeld gets sued

"Eight men who say they were beaten, held in excruciating restraints, sexually humiliated and threatened with dogs and mock firing squads while imprisoned by the U.S. military in Afghanistan and Iraq sued Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld on Tuesday, accusing him of promoting and condoning torture."

I hope they nail him. Posted by Hello
