Pandering to right-wing evangelical morons...

is Jeb Bush:

"Gov. Jeb Bush said Friday that a prosecutor has agreed to investigate why Terri Schiavo collapsed 15 years ago, citing an alleged time gap between when her husband found her and when he called 911."

"since regime change was illegal, it was 'necessary to create the conditions' which would make it legal."

Bush should be imprisoned...

"On May 1, Britain's Sunday Times broke the story of the now-infamous Downing Street Memo; that document, the minutes of a meeting of Blair's top advisers, showed that the prime minister had known, some eight months before the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq, that a war not authorized by the United Nations would be illegal for British troops to take part in. Now The Times has scooped its rivals again with the news -- and the text of -- a leaked, extremely secret British Cabinet Office briefing paper dated July 23, 2002."

Prepared for Blair and his closest advisers, this newly discovered document clearly states that "since regime change was illegal, it was 'necessary to create the conditions' which would make it legal."

Scott McClellan is a liar

Just following up on the post below... I'm not sure how Scott McClellan could be any more of a Bush whore.... In response to the reports that "Philip Cooney, chief of staff for the White House Council on Environmental Quality, made changes to descriptions of climate research that had already been approved by government scientists and their supervisors"... McClellan had this to say:

"That's false," spokesman Scott McClellan said. "The reports are based on the best scientific knowledge that we have at this time."

Liar.

These people really have no shame

From the New York Times:

Official altered reports on links to global warming
U.S. climate research edited to downplay effects of greenhouse gases on environment.

A White House official who once led the oil industry's fight against limits on greenhouse gases has repeatedly edited government climate reports in ways that play down links between such emissions and global warming, according to internal documents.

In handwritten notes on drafts of several reports issued in 2002 and 2003, the official, Philip Cooney, removed or adjusted descriptions of climate research that government scientists and their supervisors, including some senior Bush administration officials, had already approved. In most cases, the changes appeared in the final reports.

Sadly, Bush continues to use his adminsitration to blantantly push his anti-environment, right-wing agenda and he continues to get away with it.

Where have you gone Mrs. Robinson?

Anne Bancroft died today. I had just seen the Curb Your Enthusiasm episode where she and Mel Brooks appeared with Larry David taking the lead role in The Producers. Hysterical. I think I'll go rent The Miracle Worker.Posted by Hello

Pope condemns gay marriages as 'anarchy'

Pope Benedict, in his first clear pronouncement on gay marriages since his election, on Monday condemned same-sex unions as fake and expressions of "anarchic freedom" that threatened the future of the family.

"Today's various forms of dissolution of marriage, free unions, trial marriages as well as the pseudo-matrimonies between people of the same sex are instead expressions of anarchic freedom which falsely tries to pass itself off as the true liberation of man," he said.

Hmmmm, missing from that list of things the Pope condemns is the sexual abuse of young children by priests... apparently that's OK.

"Our economy is strong."

David Lazarus breaks down George Bush's press conference. Some of my favorites:

GB: "I say it's strong," he said of the economy, "because we've added over 3. 5 million new jobs over the last two years, and the unemployment rate is 5.2 percent.

DL: More than 3.5 million jobs may have been created during the past two years as the nation's economic recovery limped forward. But this president hasn't been in office for just two years. He's been in the White House more than four.

Since January 2001, when Bush took office, the U.S. economy has added a total of only about 800,000 jobs, according to the Labor Department.

To put that in context, about 2.1 million jobs were added to the economy annually over the previous two decades, including intervals of recession.

Bush boasted Tuesday that the unemployment rate is 5.2 percent. It was at a 30-year low of 3.9 percent when he took office.
