I just can't let go of the 2004 election

Turns out the new Pope is a Bush fan. He intervened in the 2004 US election campaign ordering bishops to deny communion to abortion rights supporters including presidential candidate John Kerry. From the article:

In a June 2004 letter to US bishops enunciating principles of worthiness for communion recipients, Ratzinger specified that strong and open supporters of abortion should be denied the Catholic sacrament, for being guilty of a "grave sin."

He specifically mentioned "the case of a Catholic politician consistently campaigning and voting for permissive abortion and euthanasia laws," a reference widely understood to mean Democratic candidate Kerry, a Catholic who has defended abortion rights.

BTW I checked and PopeBenedictXVIsucks.com is available to register. Posted by Hello

iPods

Adrienne gave me an early birthday gift of a 6 gig mini iPod. The tough choice was which color to get. Green looked cool, but silver matched the interior of the BMW better. 1 guess as to which color we bought. Posted by Hello

How rich get richer

From the San Francisco Chronicle:

How rich get richer: all the rest pay more
IRS scrutinizes wage earners but takes investors at their word under separate, unequal system

More from the article:

"What few of us realize is that the United States has two income tax systems, separate and unequal.

One system is for wage earners. Congress requires that your employer report your pay so Internal Revenue Service computers can check up on your tax return. Banks report interest. Brokerages report dividends. You must provide a Social Security number for each child you claim as a dependent. Congress does not trust you.

The other system is for business owners, landlords and investors. Congress does not require such independent reporting, saying that would be a burden."

Kinda makes you want to cheat on your taxes...

Don Adam's Screen Test

I was watching Captain Blood on Turner Classic Movies last night and everytime I see that movie I think of Don Adam's Screen Test from the 70's. I remember watching them stage a scene (the climatic sword fight between Errol Flynn and Basil Rathbone) from Captain Blood and thinking I'd like to see that movie... I loved that show.
