Arnold
People who still think Arnold is a great governor should read this article by Josh Benson. He details Arnold's attempt limit the right of employees to take a meal break (yes, a meal break). From the article:
the Davis administration toughened the law, issuing a simple rule: Give workers a meal break or else give them an extra hour of wages. For the first time in decades, employees had recourse against companies that broke the law.
Now Schwarzenegger wants to undo all that. Under his proposed rule, which will likely go into effect in early spring, employers need only give written notice of the right to a break. Proving violations and recovering the extra wages becomes almost impossible.
... rule hurts those least able to defend themselves: low-wage, service-sector workers, many of whom don't speak English.
Can you imagine what Walmart will do with that? I don't think their workers will see a lunch break ever again. Schwarzenegger is no friend of the people of California... he is just beholden to the same special interests that any Republican is these days.
